23rd Istanbul Jazz Festival has started with the concert of The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians, Damon Albarn and their many famous guests at Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Theatre, on Monday, the 27th of June.
The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians and many guests from Algeria, Lebanon, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal, Tunusia and The United States took place at the concert. Moreover, the guest of Damon Albarn from Turkey for this concert was Ceza (famous rap singer). 300 Syrian refugees were also enjoying the concert, which different cultures and genres were played together.
About the 23rd Istanbul Jazz Festıval
50 concerts will be given by more than 200 musicians at more than 20 locations as part of the festival.
Along with the Orchestra of Syrian Musicians and Damon Albarn, the festival will have different tastes like rock, blues, jazz, funk and world classics from the musicians like Nile Rodgers and CHIC, Joss Stone, Branford Marsalis, Kurt Elling, Kamasi Washington, Ernest Ranglin, Laura Mvula and Roy Hargrove.
Moreover, there’ll be two events, which are free of charge. Jazz in the Parks will take place at Fenerbahce Park and Night Out will be at the different locations of Kadıkoy Moda. Additionaly, an event for children called Young Jazz will be made for the first time this year. Several concerts and workshops will be made on that day.

23rd Istanbul Jazz Festival will take place at the venues like; Embassy of Germany Tarabya Summer Residence, Austrian Cultural Office Garden, Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Theatre, KüçükÇiftlik Park, Uniq Istanbul Open Air Stage, Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum, Beykoz Kundura Fabrikası and Zorlu PSM.
